A man identified as Theophilus Osazuwa, 35, has been arrested by operatives of the Edo State police command for allegedly killing his three-year-old son, Testimony Osazuwa.
The incident, it was learnt, happened on Christmas Eve in Ogbeson quarters, near Benin City in Ikpoba Okha LGA of the state.
It was learnt that the mother of the minor, a sachet water seller, had left the child with his father while going out for business.
The suspect, a commercial driver, was alleged to be on drugs when his son came to meet him, asking for food and he allegedly grabbed and hit him against the wall repeatedly and was pronounced dead at the hospital.

The command’s spokesman, SP Moses Yamu, said the suspect is in police custody.
“The suspect was said to have arrived at his home on December 24 at about 12:30, went berserk screaming “Holy Ghost fire” then reached for the 4-year-old boy and slammed him against the wall.
“The child was rushed to the hospital but was pronounced dead on arrival by the doctor,” he said.
He said preliminary investigation revealed that the young man who is known for the consumption of illicit substances (colos, ice etc), acted under the influence of drugs.
He said the state commissioner of police, Umar Ozigi, has warned the people, especially youths, against the dangers of consuming illicit substances and drugs that may be detrimental to their health, and endanger their lives and those of people around them.
