‎A 46-year-old man has reportedly killed his 38-year-old lover in Benin, Edo State capital, after he allegedly discovered male condoms in her handbag.

The man was identified as Osaremwinda Omobude Idumwonyi while the deceased was identified as Gladys Okoh

It was gathered that the incident happened at No 13, Ehiyoboy Street, Off Aifuwa Street, Off Upper Sokponba road, Benin, few hours after the deceased left the suspect’s residence where she had passed the night.

It was also gathered that the deceased, a mother of three and a divorcee was stabbed with a knife in her stomach in her mother’s room by the suspect.

Daily Trust learnt that after leaving the suspect’s house, the deceased was followed to her mother’s residence where she was stabbed to death.

The suspect was said to have walked past the mother who was sitting by the door before stabbing the deceased with a knife while effort to save her by her mother was unsuccessful.

It was also gathered that the suspect has been arrested by the State Police Command’s Criminal Investigation Department (SCID).

A police source said the suspect, who confessed to the crime, said he acted in self-defence.

He said the knife used by the suspect in committing the crime was recovered from his kitchen.

When contacted the police spokesman, DSP Chidi Nwanfor, who confirmed the incident, said investigation into the matter is ongoing.
