Man loses motorcycle to thieves in Abaji

A 28 year-old commercial motorcyclist, Abudrasheed Abubakar, on Wednesday afternoon, lost his motorcycle to  persons suspected to be motorcycle thieves at Naharati village in Abaji Area Council.

A resident of the area, Aliyu Bala, said the incident, happened at 12:03pm after Abubakar conveyed two young men on his motorcycle from Abaji roundabout to Naharati.

Bala said the cyclist was sent by one of the suspected thieves who pretended to be a passenger to buy sachet water at a shop and thereafter the two suspects rode off with the motorcycle.

He said the cyclist was advised to report the incident to vigilantes in the area.

“The cyclist was seen crying that those people that sent him to buy pure water for them escaped with his motorcycle. People around the area blamed him for leaving his key on the motorcycle,” he said.

Our reporter learnt that the cyclist, who is a native of Pandagi village, came to Abaji town on daily basis to offer motorcycling services.

When contacted, the Abaji Divisional Police Officer (DPO), CSP Tersoo Tile, said he was not aware of any motorcycle theft in the area and that nobody came to report such incident at the police station.
