The police in Ekiti State have arraigned an 18-year-old man, Emmanuel Ajileye, and his mother, Rachael Ajileye, before an Ado-Ekiti magistrates’ court for allegedly stealing a four-year-old girl.

The prosecutor, Inspector Akinwale Oriyomi, told the court that on or about December 19, 2025, in Ado-Ekiti, Emmanuel abducted the girl, while Rachael conducted herself in a manner likely to cause a breach of peace contrary to Sections 292(1)(b) and 181(d) of the Criminal Law of Ekiti State (2021).

Counsel to the defendants, Barrister O.G. Abiola, urged the court to grant his clients bail on liberal terms.

The Magistrate, Mr. Abayomi Adeosun, granted the defendants bail in the sum of N20,000 each, with one surety each in like sum, and adjourned to January 29, 2026.
