A Kano Upper Sharia Court in Rijiyar Lemo has ordered a man, Ahmad Umar, to be given 10 strokes of the cane and to cut grass in the court premises for three weeks after he was found guilty of stealing three loaves of bread.

The convict was apprehended by vigilantes in the area while burgling a shop.
