Operation SAFE HAVEN (OPSH), a security task force in Plateau State, has arrested a man for allegedly impersonating one of its personnel to secure the release of a suspected gunrunner.

The suspect, identified as Mr. Musa Ali, was paraded at the command’s headquarters on Saturday.

According to the spokesman for the operation, Major Samson Zhakom, Ali was arrested after he fraudulently presented himself as a serving member of OPSH.

He then deceitfully collected N400,000 from the family of a notorious gunrunner who is currently under investigation.

Major Zhakom stated that Ali falsely claimed he could stop the investigation and secure the suspect’s release from custody. However, his plan was uncovered by OPSH operatives.

The operation has issued a strong warning that it does not authorize any individual to collect money on its behalf.

“We categorically state that the operation does not, under any circumstances, collect money or other gratification to release suspects or halt investigations,” Zhakom said.

He emphasized that all suspects are diligently investigated according to legal procedures to ensure justice and maintain peace.

OPSH affirmed its commitment to protecting lives and property, promoting peace, and upholding the highest standards of integrity.

The task force also warned the public against engaging in any criminal activity.
