A business man residing at Aletta community along the Airport Road in Abuja has been arraigned before the FCT Upper Area Court sitting in Jiwa, for allegedly absconding with meat worth over N4 million.

The prosecutor, Barrister Atinko Julianna, told the court that the accused, Abdurrafiu Adesina (50), purchased 73 cow heads with some intestines from a farm house located at Gwarimpa area of Abuja with a promise to pay the money at an agreed date but allegedly breached the agreement. 

The prosecutor further told the court that the incident, which took place on June 16, 2023, was reported by the farm owner, one Abubakar Ahmad, at Galadima police division, saying the accused neither paid the money nor returned the meat.

“You have confessed to committing the act during the police investigation, which are offences of criminal breach of trust, and cheating, contrary to Sections 312, and 322 of the Penal Code,’’ the prosecutor added. 

 The judge, Muhammad Sulyman Ola, granted him bail with a surety, who must be a civil servant above level 10, or a reliable surety with a fixed address, within the court jurisdiction, that must deposit N500, 000 with the court registrar.

The judge adjourned the case until August 21, for hearing.
