A Chief Magistrates’ Court in Wuse, Abuja, has remanded a 32-year-old man, Abdulganiyu Kabir, in prison for allegedly beating up his tailor, Ahmed Suleiman.
Kabir was charged on three counts bordering on assault, mischief and resistance to arrest.
He, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges.
The Magistrate, Abubakar Sadiq ordered the defence counsel, Helen Akpala, to make a formal bail application for the defendant and adjourned the matter until September 16.
Earlier, the prosecuting counsel, Simpa Ibrahim, told the court that the complainant reported the matter at the Trademore Police Station on July 22.

Ibrahim alleged that the defendant gave the complainant some trousers to sew for him, adding that the complainant was unable to finish the work on time.
He said that when the defendant queried the complainant on why he could not meet with the deadline to deliver the trousers, he beat him up and tore his clothes.
He also said that during police investigations the defendant resisted arrest and gave one Insp. Sunday Onah a headbutt at the police station which caused him injuries.
The prosecutor said that the offences contravened the provisions of Sections 267, 327, 172 and 241 of the Penal Code. (NAN)
