A 23-year-old male resident of Maza Goma quaters in Gaya local government area of Kano state has been remanded in prison custody for allegedly defiling a 7-yr-old girl (name withheld).

The accused person, Ashiru Abdulbasid, was reported to the police by the father of the victim, Alhaji Sulaiman Muhamamd of the same address.

Muhammad told the police that the accused lured his 7-yr-old daughter (name withheld) into an uncompleted building at Badala quarters and subsequently had sexual knowledge of her, as aresult, she sustained injury in her private part.

Ashiru was arragned on two-count charges of rape and assault, offences contrary to sections 283 and 265 of the Penal Code Law. 

The accused person admitted committing the offenses, however, he told the court that it was a devil work and promised not to commit the act again.

The presiding Judge, Magistrate Fatihu Yassar adjourned the case to 30th March, 2017 for summary trial and ordered the accused person to be remanded in prison custody.
