An Ikorodu Chief Magistrates’ Court on Thursday ordered the remand of a 23-year-old man, Victor Faleye, in a correctional centre for allegedly defiling and impregnating a minor.
Faleye, whose address was not provided, is standing trial on a count charge bordering on defilement.
The Chief Magistrate, Mr B.A. Sonuga, however, did not take the defendant’s plea.
He remanded the defendant in a correctional facility and ordered that the file be sent to the office of the Lagos State Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) for legal advice.

Sonuga adjourned the case until June 30, pending the legal advice.
Earlier, the prosecuting counsel, ASP Aminu Isaac, told the court that the defendant committed the offences on or before January 10 at about 9pm at Igbogbo area, Ikorodu.
The prosecutor said that the defendant allegedly defiled and impregnated the 15-year-old minor.
According to the prosecutor, the offences contravene the provisions of Section 137 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015. (NAN)
