An Ilorin Magistrate Court on Thursday ordered that a man, Abdullahi Ali, accused of allegedly murdering his mistress’s husband, be remanded in prison pending  legal advice from the office of the state’s Director of Public Prosecution (DPP).

Magistrate Malik Mogaji, who did not take the plea of Ali, ordered him to be remanded in the Oke-Kura Prison, Ilorin.

He adjourned the case to June 17, for further mention.

The Prosecutor, Sgt. Adebayo Thomas, had told the court that Ali was arrested on April 26, following a report that he trespassed into the victim, Salleh Zakariyau’s, house and stabbed him to death.

Sgt. Thomas said Ali conspired with one Umaru (at large) and killed the husband of his mistress.

He said that the killing followed a warning the deceased gave Ali to stay away from his wife.

He said the incident happened in Bawagana Camp in Baruteen Local Government Area of the state.

Similarly, a 48-year-old man, Patrick Sylvester, on Thursday, appeared before a Badagry Magistrates’ Court in Lagos State for allegedly threatening to send assassins to deal with one Rev. John Orji of the Mind of God Deliverance Church.

The defendant, whose address was not given, is charged with threat to life and breach of public peace.

The Prosecutor, ASP Clement Okoimose, told the court that the accused committed the offence on March 13, at about 04:00pm in the premises of Mind of God Deliverance Church in Ilepo Araromi, Badagry, Lagos.

ASP Okoimose alleged that the accused threatened to send assassins to deal with Orji and other members of the church.

After the charge was read to him, Sylvester pleaded not guilty.

The Magistrate, Mr. Aka Basorun, admitted the accused to bail in the sum of N50,000 with two sureties in like sum.

He adjourned the case to June 26, for mention. (NAN)
