Man remanded for robbing police officer

A magistrates’ court sitting in Ilorin, Kwara State, has remanded one Idris Buji (21) for stealing from a Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP), Emmanuel Johnson, on Moro Bridge at the Oko Olowo area of the town.

The Magistrate, AbdulRaheem Bello, remanded the accused and adjourned to August 25.

Earlier, the prosecutor, Insp Zacchaeus Folorunsho, told the court that CSP Johnson was robbed by seven men armed with AK-47 rifles.

Folorunsho said the robbers emerged from the bush and stopped the complainant’s car, dragged him out and collected his service pistol containing six rounds of live ammunition.

He further said the armed robbers also collected N50, 000 cash, a suitcase, a laptop and an android phone.

The prosecutor said the complainant’s cell phone was tracked and recovered from Buji at a Fulani camp near via Obajana in Kogi State.

He, therefore, urged the court to remand Buji to enable them investigate the case and arrest the remaining members of his gang that were still at large.
