A magistrate court sitting at No Man’s Land, Kano has remanded a patent medicine store attendant, Ibrahim Danjummai in prison for allegedly raping a sick woman (name withheld).
A resident of Kafin Agur in Madobi local government area of Kano state, Danjummai, 45, was accused of two-count charge of impersonation and rape contrary to sections 283 and 132 of the penal code law.
Husband of the woman, Sagiru Buhari, who reported the case to Madobi Police station, said that his wife was raped by Danjummai, the charge sheet, indicated.
According to the charge sheet, the victim was criminally seduced by the accused when she visited his patent medicine store for treatment.
“The accused had slept with the sick married woman while in the process of treating her for a sickness,” it added.
It further stated that the victim was furious and devastated with the issue, therefore informed her husband.
In the cause of investigation, it was discovered that Danjummai was not a medical practitioner by profession, the charge sheet indicated.
The presiding judge, Magistrate Maryam Ahmad Sabo, ordered for the remand of the accused in prison custody and adjourned the case to 30th November.
