A Chief Magistrate’s Court sitting in Ado-Ekiti has ordered the remand of 37-year-old Zitta Ponjul at the Ado-Ekiti Correctional Center over the alleged murder of an individual identified as Kingsley.
The police prosecutor, Inspector Akinwale Oriyomi, informed the court that the defendant is reasonably suspected to have committed the offence on December 31, 2025, within the Ado-Ekiti Magisterial District.
Inspector Oriyomi stated that the offense is punishable under Section 234 of the Criminal Law of Ekiti State, 2021.
The prosecutor moved a motion ex parte (Suit No: MAD/04fc/2026), requesting that the defendant be remanded for an initial 30 days. This period, he explained, is to allow for legal advice from the Ekiti State Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP).
In his ruling, Chief Magistrate Abayomi Adeosun granted the request and ordered that the defendant be remanded in custody pending the issuance of the DPP’s legal advice.
