Man remanded over attempted murder of ex-lawmaker

An area court in Nyanya, Abuja, has ordered the remand of the second defendant in the case of the attempted murder of a former member of the House of Representatives, Robinson Uwak.

 The Inspector General of Police had on December 16, arraigned Kezia Robinson Uwak and Ibiang Yemiode Ofem before the court on charges of joint act and attempt to commit grievous bodily harm on the ex-lawmaker.

 The defendants, who pleaded not guilty to the charges, were sent on remand to the correctional centres in Suleja and Keffi.

 However, Joseph Utum, who was captured in the First Information Report, was at large until his arraignment before the court and remand in Keffi.

 According to the FIR, the defendants were arrested for agreeing “to do away” with Uwak to enable Kezia to convert and inherit his property worth millions of naira in the FCT, Port Harcourt and Uyo.

  Justice M. Inuwa adjourned the case to February 7, 2023.
