Man remanded over defilement of 8-year-old girl

A 57-year-old man, Adebayo Olowolayemo, was yesterday remanded in police custody by an Ado-Ekiti chief magistrate court for allegedly defiling an eight-year-old girl.

Police prosecutor, Inspector Johnson Okunade, said Olowolayemo committed the offence on September 14, 2019 in Ifaki-Ekiti.

Okunade said the girl’s mother had sent her on an errand when the defendant lured her into his room and had carnal knowledge of her.

The chief magistrate, Mr Adesoji Adegboye, didn’t take Olowolayemo’s plea.

Adegboye remanded the defendant in police custody and adjourned the case till September 27, 2019 for mention.
