An Ikeja Chief Magistrates’ Court, on Tuesday, remanded a 29-year-old man, Segun Olumade, at the Kirikiri Correctional Centre for allegedly defiling a 13-year-old girl.

Olumade, who resides at Ileolowo Imude, Ojo, Lagos, is being charged with defilement.

The prosecutor, SP Ikhayere, told the court that the defendant committed the offence in February.

Ikhayere said that the defendant defiled the 13-year-old girl by having carnal knowledge of her and threatening her not to reveal it to anyone.

The prosecutor said that the offence contravened Section 137 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.

The Magistrate, L. A Owolabi, who did not hear the defendant’s plea, remanded him at the Kirikiri Correctional Centre.

He ordered that the case file should be forwarded to the Director of Public Prosecution for advice, and adjourned the matter until April 9. (NAN)
