A Federal High sitting in Kano has remanded a man, Habibu Saleh, for allegedly kidnapping his neighbor’s daughter, Hasiya Tasiu (8), in Gabasawa LGA.
Saleh, a resident of Cikawa village in Gabasawa LGA, was dragged before the court on charges bordering on kidnapping, murder and breach of trust, to which he pleaded not guilty.
Counsel to the state government, Barr Fatima Garba Yakasai, presented three witnesses who testified before the court that the defendant killed the victim and that he continued to demand the sum of N10m as ransom.
Counsel to the defendant, Barr Bashir Muhammad, said he was ready to prove to the court that his client did not commit the offense.

Justice Umar Na’Abba adjourned the case to March 21, 2023.
