An Egor Magistrate Court in Benin yesterday remanded one Dickson Uwadinusu, 30, in prison custody for allegedly threatening to kill his parents.
The suspect, after being remanded, said to his girlfriend who was in Court, “ I am happy going to prison and will come back for you on the adjourned date.”
Earlier, the prosecutor, Inspector Violent Soyemi, had told the court that the offence was committed on November 4, at Agbanbe street, Evbotubo Quarters, Benin City, where the accused pointed a knife and a broken bottle to his father, Goddy Uwadinusu and mother, Mrs. Elizabeth Uwadinusu and threatened to stab them with the said objects.
The accused pleaded not guilty and his counsel urged the court to grant him bail.
The prosecutor objected to his bail, and the presiding Magistrate, Mrs E.E Edokpayi, remanded the accused in prison, and adjourned the case to November 29 for hearing.
