Mr. Wasiu Olajide has approached Agege Customary Court, Lagos for the dissolution of his 17-year-old marriage to his wife, Mrs Adenike Wasiu over sexual abuse and strange behaviour towards him. 

Olajide told the court yesterday that he met the wife of 17 years while in the university and got married in 2000.

The petitioner told the court that the union has produced two children, 15 and 10 years old. He said that since after the birth of their second child, his wife’s attitude had changed.

Mr. Wasiu said that there is no longer love in the marriage.

“She disobeys me always. She cheats on me and refuses to bear more children for me. I am in a parasitic relationship instead of a symbiotic relationship. I am feeling cheated, depressed and sexually abused in the marriage. My Wife deprived me of sex, she cannot even kiss or hug me, she does not call me pet names, she always says she feel ashamed doing it,” he added.   

The petitioner further explained that due to the wife’s sudden change, he has been suffering from induced hypertension for over five years.

Meanwhile, the respondent, Mrs Adenike,  a business woman told the court that she had begged her husband for forgiveness so many time but he refused to listen

“I didn’t expect my husband to bring me to court because I have begged him, I value my marriage and I don’t want it dissolved,” she said.

The Presiding Judge, Mr. Philip Williams, ruled that the parties should reconcile their diferences and come back to the court for testimony on November 4th, 2017.
