A High Court of the Izzi Judicial Division, sitting in Iboko, Ebonyi State, has sentenced John Nwaloke, a middle-aged man, to death by hanging for armed robbery.
Nwaloke was convicted for the robbery of Igboke Emeka, during which he seized a Kymstone motorcycle and an Infinix phone valued at N85,000 at gunpoint on June 6, 2023, in Mkpumaakpatakpa Agbaja, Izzi Local Government Area. The case was documented under suit number HIB/12c/2023 and presided over by Justice Ruth Okeh.
The court charge stated: “That you, John Nwaloke, on the 6th day of June 2023 at Mkpumaakpatakpa Agbaja in the Izzi Judicial Division, did arm yourself with a gun and rob one Igboke Emeka of one Kymstone motorcycle valued at N300,000 and one Infinix Note 11 phone valued at N85,000, thereby committing the offence of armed robbery contrary to Section 1 (2)(a) of the Robbery and Firearms (Special Provisions) Act Cap R11 Volume 1, Laws of the Federation of Nigeria 2004, as applicable in Ebonyi State.”
After finding Nwaloke guilty, Justice Okeh pronounced the sentence: “The sentence of this court upon you, Obumneme John Nwaloke, is that you be hanged by the neck until you die. May the Lord have mercy on your soul.”
