A yet-to-be identified man has reportedly collapsed and died after checking into a brothel along Azikiwe Street, Mile 2 Diobu, Port Harcourt, Rivers State, to meet some commercial sex workers.

Although details surrounding the incident remain unclear, sources said the man had checked into the brothel on Sunday where he suddenly collapsed and died.

Sources around the brothel told Daily Trust that the deceased had an altercation with one of the attendants shortly before he slumped.

He was immediately rushed to hospital but was confirmed death on arrival.

The Rivers State Police Spokesperson, SP Grace Iringe-Koko, who confirmed the incident on Monday, said the case had been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for further investigation.

It was gathered that a male suspect has been arrested and taken into custody by the police for questioning over the incident.

SP Iringe-Koko added that the Azikiwe Police Division handed over the case to the SCID for discreet investigation.

Meanwhile, some commercial sex workers who operate around the brothel were said to have fled the area following the incident.
