A middle aged farmer, Adamu Abdullahi, has slumped and died while working on his farm in Ebagi community in Abaji Area Council of the FCT.
A member of the deceased family, Saidu Ibrahim, said the incident happened yesterday at about 11: 07 am when the deceased was making yam ridges on his farm.
He said the deceased, who left home to the farm along with one of his children, was molding ridges with a hoe when he slumped.
He said the deceased child ran back home to report the incident.
“We were sitting in front of the house when the little boy who followed him to the farm came back home crying that Baba has collapsed inside the farm. We quickly mobilized to the farm and brought him to the clinic but we discovered that he had already given up,” he said.
Ibrahim said the deceased was hale and hearty and did not complain of any health challenges before he left home to the farm, saying the remains of Abdullahi had been buried according to Islamic rites.
Meanwhile, the chairman of the council, Alhaji Abdulrahman Ajiya, had condoled with the family of the deceased.
Ajiya, who visited the community to join family members of the deceased for the funeral prayers, expressed shock and sadness over the incident, even as he described the death as natural and prayed for the deceased soul to rest in peace.
He urged members of the deceased family to see the death as natural, while praying that God grant the family the fortitude to bear the loss.
