A man, identified as Barnabas Enoch, has been stabbed to death following an argument at a local drinking joint in the Ushafa community of the Bwari Area Council, FCT.

Witnesses said the incident occurred on Thursday around 5:12 pm.

According to reports, a disagreement ensued between Enoch and another man, identified simply as Zachiaus Musa, which led to a violent confrontation.

Shedrack Ayuba, one of the witnesses, explained that what started as a verbal dispute at the joint quickly escalated.

“The deceased was seated close to Musa while drinking when a heated argument suddenly broke out. Before anyone realized what was happening, Musa angrily broke a bottle and stabbed Enoch in the neck,” Ayuba said.

He added that the confrontation turned into a scuffle, during which the fatal wound was inflicted. Enoch tragically passed away while being rushed to a nearby hospital.

The incident, he said, drew the immediate attention of the police, who arrived at the scene shortly after.

“Some policemen arrived just as the suspect attempted to escape; he was immediately apprehended and whisked away,” the witness added.

Abuja Metro gathered that the killing triggered a protest by angry youths in the community, causing panic.

Several traders and residents hurriedly closed their shops and fled the area for safety.

Security personnel were later deployed to the community to restore calm and prevent further violence.

A police source, who preferred to remain anonymous, confirmed the incident, stating that the suspect is in custody and an investigation is ongoing.
