A man identified as Lucky Iliya has been stabbed to death by suspected phone snatchers in Pegi, Kuje Area Council of the FCT.

Markus Bawa, a member of the local vigilante group, said the incident occurred on Thursday around 11:12 pm. He said the vigilantes were on patrol when they found the deceased lying in a pool of blood by the roadside.

According to Bawa, the victim was stabbed in three places.

He unfortunately passed away while being transported to the hospital in Kuje.

“The victim was still alive when we found him,” Bawa said. “He told the vigilantes that two young men on a motorcycle blocked his path while he was walking home. They stabbed him and escaped with his two phones.”

He added, “Unfortunately, he gave up the ghost on the way to the hospital. His relatives later arrived at the hospital, identified him, and took his body for burial.”

A police source at the Pegi division confirmed the incident, stating that an investigation is currently underway.

The source added that the remains of the deceased had been handed over to his family.
