A man, identified as Ojo Deji, was reportedly stabbed to death at the Atikankan area of Ado-Ekiti, the Ekiti State capital, on Sunday.
He was killed while trying to receive his share of the money donated by a philanthropist who came to his area to distribute money to the destitute.
A witness said some youths pleaded to be given their own share of the money, but upon receiving their share, a fight broke out among them as they struggled to share it.
The witness said one of them was stabbed to death in the process.

The Police Public Relations Officer in the state, SP Sunday Abutu, confirmed that two suspects had been arrested and are currently undergoing investigation over the incident.
He said the Commissioner of Police in the state, Joseph Eribo, has ordered a discreet investigation into the incident that led to the death.
The police said preliminary investigation revealed that on that fateful day, at about 18:45 hours, a yet-to-be identified man went to the Atikankan area to give alms to the destitute.
He said, “Upon sighting the man, two groups of suspected hoodlums approached him and begged for money.
“In the process, a fight ensued between the two groups and the deceased was stabbed.
“He was rushed to the hospital, where he died while receiving medical treatment.”
