Residents of Pipeline area in Kubwa, a satellite town in the FCT, were on Monday night thrown into panic after a 27-year-old man, Adetunji Gbenga, stabbed his younger brother, Tola.

It was learnt that Gbenga and Tola had a misunderstanding over a love text message the latter sent to the former’s lover and that during the argument, Gbenga stabbed his younger brother on the side of his stomach.

Gbenga’s landlord, Malam Musa Kabiru, who was a witness, told our reporter on Tuesday afternoon that Tola, a student of the Nasarawa State University, Lafia, had been staying with his brother since the industrial action embarked upon by the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) in February.

He said, “I learned that Tola planned on resuming school next week. I was around when the whole argument started. It started like a joke.

“From what I understand, Gbenga was sending movies to his phone from his brother’s phone, then a text message from MTN dropped. He mistakenly opened the message box and saw his brother’s text message to one Mr Tayo.

“When he made findings, he discovered that the Mr Tayo is his lover. His brother saved her number as Mr Tayo. He confronted his brother. It was during this he stabbed him with the tip of a knife.

“I and other tenants rushed him to the Kubwa General Hospital. Alhmadulilah, he is recovering. I am sure the issue will be settled when he recovers.”
