A 32 -year -old man identified as Safiyanu Usman has been stripped half naked by a mob for allegedly stealing chickens at Unguwar Kutunku community in Gwagwalada Area Council of the FCT.
A resident of Kutunku, Alhassan Musa, said the incident happened on Sunday, around 5:22 pm when the suspect invaded a newly completed house under the watch of a security guard around Kutunku area and removed two big chickens.
He said the suspect came when the security man left the house to buy some things in the metropolis.
He said the suspect was arrested when coming out of the house with the two chickens in his hands, adding that the security man quickly raised an alarm, which attracted the attention of some neighbours.

He said the neighbours rushed out and arrested the suspect, adding that upon getting the information, some people descended on him.
He said the suspect was later rescued by the vigilantes, who mobilised to the scene and whisked him away.
A member of the vigilante group simply identified as Salisu confirmed the incident, saying the suspect was rescued from the hands of the mob and handed over to the security personnel in the area.
He said, “The mob almost lynched the suspect if not for the quick intervention of the vigilantes, who mobilised to the scene to rescue him and handed him over to security personnel.”
The police in the area confirmed the incident but declined further comment.
The spokeswoman of the FCT Police Command, SP Josephine Adeh,did not respond to the calls put across to her on the incident as at the time of filing the report.
