Mr. Ishaku Joseph on Monday dragged his daughter’s boyfriend, Yunana Zock, before a Customary Court in Kaduna State for allegedly misappropriating his late wife’s death benefits.

The prosecutor, ASP Jeremiah Amfani, told the court that the accused deceived Joseph’s daughter, Emmanuella, and withdrew N13 million from her account.

The money had been transferred to her account in 2023 because she was the next of kin to her late mother.

Amfani stated that the police investigated the matter after Joseph filed a report.

During her testimony, Emmanuella told the court that the accused took her ATM card without her knowledge and withdrew the money.

In his defence, the accused claimed he transferred N11.9 million to his girlfriend’s account, and that she had agreed to give him N2 million to start a business.

He said they had been spending time together in Abuja and had shared their ATM PIN numbers.

He presented a document showing his account statement from Opay, which was accepted as an exhibit.

He also said he would present one witness at the next hearing.

The Judge, Ms. Patience Musa, adjourned the matter until September 30 for the continuation of the defence.
