A 20-year-old man, Amir Yusuf, appeared before a Shari’a court in Magajin Gari, Kaduna, on Wednesday to sue his step-brother, Aliyu Yusuf, for allegedly stealing and selling his phone.
The prosecutor, Inspector Ahmad Isiyaku, stated that the complainant reported on August 28 that his Redmi A5 phone had been stolen, and that the phone case was also stolen a week later.
According to Isiyaku, the police tracked the phone and found it with one Bello Isah, who claimed he had bought the phone for N80,000 without knowing it was stolen.
The first accused, Aliyu Yusuf, pleaded guilty to the offence of theft, while Bello Isah stated he received the phone without knowing it was stolen.
Judge Malam Yakubu Abdullahi granted bail to the two accused persons on the condition that they provide a reliable surety. He also ordered Isah to present evidence on September 9 to prove he had no knowledge that the phone was stolen. (NAN)
