A Shari’a Court No. 1 in Kofar Kudu, Kano Municipality, has sentenced Abdurrashid Mustapha to six months in a correctional centre or a N40,000 fine after he was found guilty of trespassing and theft.
In addition to the prison sentence, the court ordered Mustapha to receive 40 strokes of the cane and pay N700,000 in restitution for the stolen motorbike.
Mustapha was convicted of breaking into the home of Alhaji Sani Hotoro and stealing his motorbike.
He was later arrested by the police and arraigned before the court.
Presiding Khadi, Shamsuddeen Ado Abdullahi of Unguwar Gini, further ruled that Mustapha will be placed on community service, clearing the drainage system in his neighborhood for six months.
