The Gombe State Police Command has arrested a 28-year-old man who allegedly killed his neighbour over allegation of witchcraft.

Commissioner of Police, Shina Tairu Olukolu, said the suspect, Wanman Haruna of Nyuwar village of Balanga LGA of the state, was alleged to have used a machete to kill one Hajara Shehu, 58, of the same village, who he accused of using witchcraft to kill his father.

He said the command also arrested one Ibrahim Sale, 25, of Dangeja village in Pero Chonge of Shomgom LGA of the state, alleged to have killed his younger brother, Haruna Samuel, 22, after a misunderstanding.

He said the suspect stabbed the deceased on his stomach and was pronounced dead at a private hospital in Gombe.

Meanwhile, 17, other suspects were arrested by the command for allegedly committing various offenses in the last two weeks.

A statement by the commands’ spokesman, DSP Obed Mary Malum, said the suspects would be arraigned as soon as investigation is concluded.
