According to the command yesterday, the deadly squad, sometimes, towards the end of last year hijacked a container load of paint colourants valued at over N25 million belonging to Chemical and Allied Products (CAP) Plc, Ikeja, Lagos. The operation was successful as they stabbed and injured the driver of the bus who initially resisted their attempt to forcefully take away the trailer truck and all its contents.

Nine of the eleven-man syndicate were apprehended after weeks of thorough investigative network by the law enforcement agent.

Explaining their modus operandi to journalist at the state command headquarters, the robbers confessed that they usually trailed any container they had interest in to wherever it was going, and by the time the truck got to a secluded location, they would attack the occupants of such trucks including the driver. After overpowering the driver and the motor boys, they would then move randomly to any location in the country in order to escape. According to the nine robbers, they sped off to the East after taking possession of the truck and were able to sell some of the contents of the truck before they were caught.

The suspects abandoned the truck in Lagos but subsequently proceeded to Abia State and deposited the goods inside the warehouse of one of their leaders in a remote area of Abia State.

Meanwhile, the police maintained that nemesis would soon catch up with other fleeing members of the robbery gang as it would engage all intelligence arsenal at its disposal to fish out the robbers so that they could face the full wrath of the law.
