Mrs Child was an outstanding American woman of the nineteenth century. Born of White parents at Medford Massachusetts on February 11th 1802, Lydia Child she was described by Wikipedia as a slavery abolitionist, women’s rights advocate, opponent of American expansionism, Indian Rights activist, novelist, journalist and Unitarian(member of a Christian group which does not believe in the trinity).

Apart from her reputation as an activist, Mrs Child was the author of a revolutionary book called ‘An appeal in favour of that class of Americans called Africans’ published in 1833. She was believed to be the first White person to have written a book on abolishing of slavery. Lydia was such a strong supporter of the anti-slavery movement that she was reputed to have helped greatly in the fundraising effort to finance the first anti-slavery fair which abolitionists held in Boston in 1839. She became the editor of the National Anti-slavery Standard in 1840.

Whatever motivated Mrs Child to describe her own motherland as a warning rather than an example to the world must have been the result of a deep-rooted knowledge of the evils committed in the corridors of American establishment. Alas, today the reverse is the case. With very little knowledge of the US stands for, a sizeable portion of the world cannot wait to copy its every example. As some of us might recall, one of the memorable images of September 11th was a film footage of Palestinians in Gaza dancing and celebrating the attack on the United States.

I still remember the very moment CNN news anchor Ralitsa Vassileva invited us to view more reactions to the attacks by going live to Gaza. Though a few people with sympathy for the Palestinian cause might understand the reason Gazans were celebrating 9/11, still to most others it was in bad taste. It didn’t take long before M Amir Ali of the Detroit Islamic Centre raised the alarm that that film footage dated back to the Gulf war and was in fact almost ten years old on the morning of September 11th.  A Mexican journalist soon corroborated Amir Ali’s claim by saying he had that same film footage from the Gulf War.

It seems like the moment the first lie was told; that of the suicide hijack that had no planes, no hijackers and no missing passengers, numerous other lies were needed to support it. Was it not Otto Von Bismarck, the famous German (Prussian) prime minister who said ‘People never lie so much as after a hunt, during a war or before an election.’? The events of September 11th were after all an act of war, whichever way you look at them. Can anyone be so heartless?

In the almost ten years I have spent questioning the official story (I wrote my first piece, ‘9/11: The biggest hoax of all?’ in November2001) and hailing the alternative theories of 9/11, the most recurring question I have been asked by listeners and readers has been ‘Can anyone be so heartless as to stage a mass-murder of so many innocent people and blame it on others?’ and I have been forced to answer ‘Yes, when the end justifies the means.’ I never knew it was possible to find great supporting evidence for this until I stumbled on the actual text of Operation Northwoods. In his book  Body Of Secrets, author James Bamford reproduced the one document that proves more than anything else that the US government or some of its agencies are capable of staging an atrocity like 9/11 and blaming it on others, if it served some ulterior political or economic motive.

According to Bamford, Operation Northwoods is a series of fake terror attacks planned on US citizens which was meant to look like Cuban assault so as to create support for a US attack on Cuba. The architect of this dastardly script was the chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff of the US in the 1960s General Lyman Lemnitzer. In Bamford’s own words ‘Code-named Operation Northwoods, the plan which had the written approval of the chairman and every member of the Joint chiefs of staff, called for innocent people to be shot on American Streets, for boats carrying refugees fleeing Cuba to be sunk on the High seas, for a wave of violent terrorism to be launched in Washington DC, Miami and elsewhere. People would be framed for bombings they did not commit; planes would be hijacked. Using phony evidence all of it would be blamed on Fidel Castro, thus giving Lemnitzer and his cabal the excuse, as well as the public and international backing they needed to launch their war.’

If you find this chilling as a reminder of what 9/11 turned out to be, wait till you read the actual wordings of the document. According to Operation Northwoods itself one elaborate scheme will be to ‘Create an incident which will demonstrate convincingly that a Cuban aircraft has attacked and shot down a chartered civil airliner en route from United States to Jamaica, Guatemala, Panama or Venezuela. The destination will be chosen only to cause the flight plan route to cross Cuba. The passengers will be a group of college students off on a holiday or any grouping of persons with a common interest to support chartering a non-scheduled flight.’

Another obnoxious plan says ‘We could blow up a US ship in Guantanamo Bay and blame Cuba, casualty list in US newspapers could cause a helpful wave of national indignation.’ And yet another plan was ‘We could develop a Communist Cuban terror campaign in the Miami area and other Florida cities and even in Washington. The terror campaign could be pointed at Cuban refugees seeking haven in the US. We could sink a boat load of Cubans en route to Florida (real or simulated) …we could foster attempts on the lives of Cuban refugees in the United States even to the extent of wounding in instances to be widely publicised.’

Then there was the plan to engage in ‘Exploding a few plastic bombs in carefully chosen spots, the arrest of Cuban agents and the release of prepared documents substantiating Cuban involvement also would be helpful in projecting the idea of an irresponsible government.’ Many other contents of Operation Northwoods are as cold-blooded as the plans quoted above. An internet search can enable you to have the whole document at your fingertips. These evil plans were drawn by the generals in the dying days of the Eisenhower presidency of the United States. By the time John F Kennedy came on board, he reportedly rejected all the plans and through his defense secretary Robert Mcnamara even disbanded the generals in the joint chiefs of staff, redeploying them to other areas.

But the point has been made that America is capable of attacking itself and blaming others when the price is right. Then, it was Communist Cuba audaciously having its way through Communism right at America’s backyard, in 2001 it was Afghanistan audaciously rebuffing United States romantic overtures despite having the world’s largest proven reserves of oil and gas. America has been after Afghanistan for a pipeline deal since the Clinton administration. In the Chapters he called ‘Romancing the Taliban’ Ahmed Rashid author of the book ‘Taliban’ discussed how the Clinton government transported Taliban leaders all the way from Kabul to 5-star hotels in the US in order to convince them to strike a deal that will enable the US to construct pipelines from Afghanistan to the United States to enable it have complete monopoly over the riches of the Caspian sea.

Bill Clinton left office unable to get the deal, while George W Bush and Co came in with no plans to seek such a deal. They came with a will to fight for it. Bush was sworn in as president in America’s most disputed elections in January 2001. By July of the same year the US military had perfected all plans to invade Afghanistan, according to Thierry Meyssan author of 9/11: The Big Lie. All that was needed was the perfect pretext to launch the attack. Then some cold-blooded murderers remembered Operation Northwoods, dusted the papers and adapted it to suit the reality of the 21st century. Lo and behold 9/11 was staged. Staging September 11th actually had a triple advantage. It provided an immediate excuse for the US to enter Afghanistan in pursuit of its oil and gas pipelines, it provided the perfect excuse to enter so-called rogue states (read oil-producing Muslim States that have no business being friendly with Israel) and it gave a grand opportunity to demonise Islam, since a helpful wave of Islamophobia could lead to a halt or at least a reduction in what was reported as Islam’s fast growth in the Western world.
