Manufacturers to focus on driving technology solutions at NME/NIRAM expo

The President of Manufacturers Association of Nigeria (MAN), Francis Meshioye, says this year’s edition of the Nigeria Manufacturing and Equipment Expo (NME), co-located with the Nigerian Raw Materials Expo (NIRAM), will drive industry stakeholders to engage on innovative technology solutions that will improve manufacturing in the country.

He spoke at a press conference ahead of the 2025 edition of the NME/NIRAM expo.

Organised by the Manufacturers Association of Nigeria (MAN) and the Raw Materials Research and Development Council (RMRDC), the three-day Expo, themed “Accelerating Sustainable Manufacturing through Cutting-edge Technology Solutions” is scheduled for August 5 -7 in Lagos.

According to Meshioye, the expo seeks to provide one-stop shops for equipment manufacturers, raw materials producers, processors, local fabricators and other stakeholders in the manufacturing sector to showcase their new and emerging technologies, machinery, equipment, and innovations.

He said by embracing cutting-edge technologies, “we are heading toward driving innovation, resilience, and long-term value for our stakeholders.”

Meshioye said, “Our focus is to spark conversations around Deployment of energy-efficiency in our production facilities; Implementation of smart factory technologies, including Internet of Things (IoT) and Artificial Intelligence (AI), to optimize resource use; Waste reduction strategies through closed-loop systems and advanced recycling methods; and engender partnerships with green tech innovators to co-develop scalable, sustainable solutions.”

The MAN president said beyond the theme, the association has an the expectation in the policy direction of the Federal Government on “Nigeria First”.

“As an Association, Nigeria First is not a mere policy statement but the fruit of years of advocacy of patronage and support of what is Made in Nigeria,” he said.

He added that another significant feature is the Women in Manufacturing session, affording accomplished women in the field the opportunity to share their experiences with aspiring female manufacturers who may be considering entry into the sector.

He emphasised that this is not just another edition, but a strategic advantage in a competitive global market.
