“Maolud celebration, not against any fundamental of Islam”

The Chief Missioner of Nasru-llahi Fathi Society (NASFAT), Imam Abdul-Azeez Onike has said that celebration of Maolud Nabiyy (birth of prophet Muhammed) does not conflict with any fundamentals of Islam.

Onike spoke in Lagos at the Maolud Nabiyy celebration organized by NASFAT at the Lagos Secretariat Mosque Alausa.

He said that considering the significance of the birth of the prophet, NASFAT would in the nearest future make the celebration a seven-day event which would end on the declared public holiday to take a detailed look at the personality and characters of the prophet.

According to him, Maolud provided a golden opportunity for the faithful to increase their knowledge and learn more about the prophet.

He said, “There are things that you do in Islam that don’t affect the fundamentals of Islam. We are not looking for justification. What are we doing here today? We are beaming a searchlight on the personalities of the noble prophet.

According to him, Islam encourages any gathering meant for acquisition of knowledge.

“We will never involve in any bid’ah that runs contrary to the fundamentals of Islam or inputs negatively on the fundamentals of Islam,” Onike said.

The Guest Speaker, Imam Tesleem Moshood, said Nigeria would be a better place if the lessons of the life and personality of prophet Muhammed were imbibed.
