Speaking to Daily Trust, Head of Voter Education and Publicity in the Sokoto INEC, Musa Muhammed, said: “In some places ballot boxes were snatched and in others, the fight among politicians resulted in ad hoc staff leaving the polling units.”
He listed the local government areas where violence were recorded to include Bodinga, with 11 polling units affected, Sokoto North, four and Rabah, three cases, Tureta two and one case, each, in Isa, Shagari and Sokoto South.
He assured that measures have been put in place for hitch-free and successful polls in the state tomorrow, including special security arrangements in some flashpoints.
He said the commission also embarked on advocacy visits to affected areas to meet with village heads and major stakeholders, adding that 14 supervisors who absconded on the eve of the presidential election have been replaced.
