The Abuja Writers Forum will host readings by Dickson Salami Adama, Alexander Ochega, and Umar Yogiza Jnr for its March 31 Guest Writer Session.
Dickson Salami Adama’s debut novel Ancestral Farewell, published by Transconventional Publishers, explores the issues of elemental superstitions and unhelpful traditionalism in African communities.
Adama , a recipient of several merit awards, including Best Reporter Awards and Certificates of Honour for Academic Excellence, has also written short stories and plays.
Currently working with the Abuja-based Daily Trust Newspaper, his media experience includes previous engagements with the Voice of America (VOA) English to Africa Service, Aljazirah Nigeria Newspapers, Kakaaki News and the Borgen Project in the United States of America (USA).
Umar Yogiza Jr writer, poet and builder hails from Nasarawa State. Founder of Free Poetic Universe, an online poetry platform, his works have appeared in anthologies, journals and online sites.
Yogiza, winner of 2017 Atlanta Black Street Poetry Prize, published his debut poetry collection, Instrument of Immortality, late last year.
Alexander Ochega will provide musical interludes. A talented guitarist, singer and songwriter, he has appeared on several platforms.
Ochega composed the highly inspirational songs “Edo Princess” and “Ososo Hills” for the award winning documentary on Akoko-Edo, Edo State in 2007. Presently, his gospel single hit “You Are Worthy” is making waves in the media.
The Guest Writer Session, taking place at the Aso Hall of Nanet Suites, Ekiti House, from 4-7pm and is open to the public and will features a Q and A segment and a raffle-draw for books.
