Adamawa State Governor, Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, at the weekend received a grand civic reception organised by Margi Worldwide, where he reaffirmed pride in his heritage and highlighted key achievements of his administration. The event also featured the unveiling of a new Margi national attire.
Addressing traditional rulers, political leaders and cultural groups, Fintiri described the honour as deeply personal, noting that his political journey was shaped by the support and values of the Margi people. He praised the resilience of Margi ancestors and said he was proud to belong to the community.
The governor recalled the insecurity and infrastructural challenges that confronted Adamawa at the start of his administration, saying peace-building and cooperation helped restore stability and make the state one of the most peaceful in the North-East.
He outlined reforms in education, including free and compulsory schooling, payment of WAEC/NECO fees, revival of scholarships and the establishment of model schools, describing education as the state’s “covenant with the next generation.”

Fintiri also highlighted improvements in healthcare, including upgraded facilities, recruitment of personnel and an ultra-modern diagnostic centre offering free dialysis in Yola.
He noted progress in youth and women empowerment, civil service reforms, job creation and infrastructure, saying governance must “restore hope, not just build roads.”
Unveiling the new Margi attire, the governor said it symbolises cultural pride and continuity. He thanked Margi traditional rulers and communities across Adamawa, Borno and Cameroon for their unity and support.
Gov. Fintiri also appreciated his fellow governors-Seyi Makinde of Oyo, Bala Mohammed of Bauchi, Kefas Agbu of Taraba and Babagana Zulum of Borno, as well as PDP leaders for their continuous support. PDP leaders and his wife, Lami Fintiri, dedicating the recognition to his family and the people of Adamawa. He assured that his administration remains committed to completing ongoing projects, saying, “We are only retying our laces.”
