A former Senate President, Ahmad Lawan, has said Senator David Mark deepened democracy in the country when he served as Senate President between 2007 and 2015.

Lawan, in a message to David Mark on Monday on the occasion of his 76th birthday, by his Media Adviser, Dr. Ezrel Tabiowo, described Mark as a statesman whose exemplary leadership and integrity were instrumental to shaping the course of the nation’s history.

He said the Senate under Mark, achieved several legislative milestones that impacted and defined the subsequent trajectory of the National Assembly, as well as deepened the nation’s democracy.
