Governor Aminu Masari’s agenda as governor of Katsina State is increasingly becoming a platform for the absurd. Happily though, the public is not buying into their circus calumny against of trying to rundown the image and performance of his predecessor, Ibrahim Shehu Shema.
Having read Masari’s response as published on page 9 of Daily Trust of July 7, 2015, to allegations of massive looting, fraud and illegality taking place by his two months’ old administration, one cannot afford not to be worried for the State.
The obvious insincerity pin the government’s current campaign has failed to garner public sympathy; the political landscape in Nigeria has from those primordial practices. Since Masari said he has taken his case against the immediate past administration to the EFCC, then the ideal thing is for him to leave the Commission and the courts to do their work, while he concentrates on the task of governance, which he was elected to perform.
Gov Masari needs to note that Nigeria is not a banana republic where one person serves as an accuser, a judge, a jury and executioner in his own case.
If he thinks that mounting media propaganda against officials of the former administration will divert public attention from questions about financial recklessness which he has failed to answer, then he is making a costly mistake.
Until the following questions are answered, Masari should stop talking, because Katsina people are not fools.
He needs to explain why he awarded contract for the supply of fertiliser at the cost of N2. 5 billion, singlehandedly, to his friend without executive council approval and tenders board, when the law has set the governor approval limit for N500 million without council.
Why did he approve a contract for the renovation of the state’s old Government House at the cost of N1.8 billion at the time he announced cancellation of free education in public schools.
What necessitated the award of contract for the replacement of furniture for the new Government House that is barely one year old?
What happened to the cash withdrawal of the sum of N589 million from the state government account in a commercial bank?

 He who goes to equity must come with clean hands. Where are Masari’s clean hands if he cannot publicly give account of his stewardship in the last two months by responding to the questions stated above as earlier published on Page 12 of Daily Trust on Sunday, July 5, 2015?
Why is Masari not comfortable about telling the public the whereabouts of about N12.5 billion inherited from his predecessor, a transaction that he has not denied?
President Buhari may not be aware that every untoward conduct by the Masari administration has always been linked to his name and this can be verified from the media publications sponsored by the administration. 
In the last two months, in terms of governance, Katsina State has been at standstill, and the only response the governor can offer for jettisoning his primary duty of governance is that he is following the footsteps of PMB. Has Katsina State become Nigeria?
