Two of the masterminds of the abduction and killing of seven families of the chief of Mutum Biyu in Taraba State have been arrested by a vigilante group.
Recall that seven members of the family of the Chief of Mutum Biyu were abducted in February last year at his private residence in Jalingo.
All the seven victims were later killed by their abductors – two of the chief’s wives and five children.
However, one year and five months later, one Umaru Usman, aka Malam Tambaya, was arrested by vigilantes at Dakka area in Bali Local Government Area in connection with the abduction and killing of the traditional ruler’s family members.

The Daily Trust on Sunday gathered that Umaru Usman, 85, was alleged to have led the gang of kidnappers to the residence of the Chief of Mutum Biyu located in Jalingo and abducted them.
It was learnt that the suspect confessed before the vigilante that he masterminded the abduction and killing of the chief’s family members.
A source within the vigilante circle told Daily Trust Sunday that other gang members who carried out the abductions had fled to other parts of the state and into neighbouring Cameroon.
The suspects, it was further gathered, were handed over to the vigilante in Mutum Biyu town, who in turn handed him over to the police.
When contacted by the acting Police Public Relations Officer, Taraba Police Command, DSP Kwache Gambo, confirmed the arrest of two suspects.
