The late divisional police officer for Festac Division, Lagos, Matilda Ngbaronye, a Chief Superintendent of Police, has been described as a dedicated officer who served with unwavering professionalism and integrity. 

The Lagos State police public relations officer, SP Abimbola Adebisi, disclosed this in a statement mourning the deceased officer. Ngbaronye died during a medical session for fibroid treatment at the Mayriamville Medical Centre in Surulere, Lagos State.

Adebisi explained further that “CSP Ngbaronye was a dedicated and respected officer, known for her passion for human rights and her commitment to balancing individual freedoms with responsibility and respect for others. She had been in office for just six months, having assumed duty as the DPO of FESTAC division with a promise to flush out criminals in the estate.”

He noted that the CP Olohundare Jimoh had personally reached out to her husband and her elder brother, who is a priest, to extend the command’s heartfelt condolences and support during this difficult time.

Ngbaaronye joined the police in 2010 after graduation. She held multiple positions, such as crime officer at Dolphin Estate division, General Investigation and Crime Expert at the SCIID, Panti, officer-in-charge, public complaints and public information officer with the African Union mission, AMISOM in Somalia, deputy police public relations officer, Lagos State command, DPO of Iponri division and later FESTAC.
