The management of McPherson University (McU), Ogun State, has appointed former Nigerian High Commissioner to the United Kingdom, Dr Christopher Kolade, as the institution’s new Chancellor.
At the unveiling ceremony held in Lagos, Visitor to the University and General Overseer, Foursquare Gospel Church, Rev. Felix Meduoye said the appointment of Kolade was predicated on his many years of services to the nation and the integrity which he deployed in handling all assigned responsibilities.
According to Meduoye, when the search for the new Chancellor began after the death of the former Olu of Warri, King Godwin Edomi Ogiame Atuwatse II, who was the pioneer Chancellor of the institution, Kolade matched all the criteria being considered for the appointment.
The varsity’s Vice Chancellor, Prof. Adeniyi Agunbiade, also expressed optimism that the appointment of the new Chancellor will help the institution in achieving its mission which is “to provide qualitative, functional and sound education with Godly virtues that will prepare men and women for leadership and positive impact on the society.”
