It was a 1998 model, an older model Honda. It was good at that time but I like what I have now.

Currently we know the car you are using for your official duty is the Mitsubishi Lancer, which one would you have preferred for the work you do?

Really this car facilitates our movement in getting to work and to where we have our official assignment which also entails sometimes even driving outside Abuja. The factor of performance is there, given the fact that I can drive anytime to Kaduna and Kano takes away any doubt about being left alone on the road. Otherwise I won’t be using it.

When you talk of the necessity you need in a car the luxury and comfort it has it. It’s a solid car. It has a 2.0 liter engine, it’s also feels heavy compared to its contemporary like the Honda Civic 1.8 liter i-vtec and the Toyota Coralla 1.8 liter vvti engine. They 2 liter engine inspires confidence.

So would have preferred your current car to your previous car?

Of course, this is a new car and it’s the latest version. You’re talking of a 2010 model. Also the luxury this car offer compared to the previous car is more. When you talk of facility the Mitsubishi Lancer offers more. For instance it has a trip computer that keeps you updated on service intervals and post information concerning the car for your benefit.

It even has a standard cruise control and ample space in the interior. But one thing I must tell you these cars have close resemblance to one another especially from a distance. They have high shoulders. Sometimes from a distance you think it to be a Toyota or a version or visa versa. It is not until you see the logo. Even the facilities in the cars look similar. Most of the models even have similar dashboard layout and settings. So what you see in a Honda i-vtec 2010 version resembles that of the Mitsubishi. If you look at it from that point of view I’m not driving a very different car compared to a Honda or Toyota. Apart from the feature they have quite some form of resemblance. But I really don’t mind when I was given the car I looked at it, I drove it and I had no desire of getting a Honda or a Toyota. It’s just the name the car are similar. It’s frugal and easy to live with. In fact on everyday use it prove very effective and efficiency on its fuel consumption. It’s a car to keep for a lot of utility purposes. At anytime I can realy on it at anytime.

Let me ask you two more questions. What would be your dream car?

[He smiles] it is said even the CEO of GM has a Mercedes in his garage or is it the other way? [ and he laughs] It’s a solid car it’s even my dream car. I am not a car freak because I don’t intend to keep more than two cars in my house; one status car and one utility car, nothing more nothing less. Here in Africa you can see many people having 10- 12car. If you go to Europe you see people using the subways to commute and there are leasing packages which allow them to continue changing car as new versions are launched. In Nigeria the financial facilities makes one to buy and buy and buy.
