Media monitoring firm set to monitor copyright abuses in Nigeria

Mr. Uche Aligbe, Managing Director and CEO of MMS while addressing newsmen in Lagos to flag-off  the celebration of the company’s 15 years in the service of the media monitoring and marketing industry said his company is geared towards monitoring copyright usage, infringements and violations in Nigeria.

 “The two new services of copyright and editorial monitoring are the latest additions to an array of media information services which MMS has been providing to the media and marketing communications services in the fifteen years of its existence. MMS started media monitoring in March 1995 by monitoring about 10 electronic media stations in Lagos, a few newspapers and outdoor billboards in greater Lagos,” he said.

According to him, “today, the company has monitoring offices in 14 strategic locations in Nigeria from where it is monitoring over 165 electronic media stations; all the outdoor billboards in Nigeria and all the national newspapers.”

Mr. Aligbe disclosed that there will be a two pronged celebration of the company’s 15 year anniversary commencing “on the 27th of April 2010 with a stakeholders forum which will open score cards of operation for practitioners to evaluate and appreciate while on the 28th of April, there will be recognition of deserving corporate and individual contributors to the development of media monitoring in Nigeria.”
