The Chief Executive Officer of Media Trust and Editor-in-Chief of Daily Trust titles, Manir Dan-Ali, has charged new staff to acquaint themselves with the company’s cherished values and policies to justify their employment.

Dan-Ali gave the charge on Wednesday during an induction ceremony held for over 50 new staff of Media Trust, drawn from various units and locations, at the company’s corporate headquarters, Utako District, Abuja.

The Media executive, who said the ceremony was meant to familiarise the inductees with the missions and visions of Media Trust Limited, also warned that any staff who fails to key into the company’s overall objectives will be sanctioned or thrown out.

He added that, although the media industry wass changing fast as a result of the internet and new media, the company was also adjusting to the changes by floating the online journalism platform to reach new audience.

“It gives me pleasure to see both new and old faces in this induction scheme. This formal session is to remind ourselves of what this company (Media Trust Limited) stands for, as well as individual contributions required of us to make it succeed.

“Let me say that we, in Media Trust, hold our values very dear, including the media ethics of professionalism, objectivity, balance, accuracy and fairness. As a result, we have reasons to throw out people who don’t follow our values.

“The media environment is changing fast as a result of the internet and new media technologies that have bridged distance and borders, and wrought hair-splitting challenges in the media industry. But we have also diverged into online journalism”, Dan-Ali said.

In his remarks earlier, Company Secretary and Legal Adviser of Media Trust, Kabiru Bala, welcomed newly inducted staff, noting that the company came from the dreams of Kabiru Yusuf, whose excellent ideals and aspirations have remained the driving force till date.

He urged them to use the excellent opportunity provided by the company to sharpen their own entrepreneurial skills as future drivers of Nigerian economy.

The General Manager, Finance and Accounts, Nura Daura, also familiarized the new staff with the organizational structure and internal workings of Media Trust as a corporate entity limited by shares.
