Media Trust chairman bags Christopher Kolade leadership award

The Chairman of the Board of Directors, Media Trust Group, Malam Kabiru  A. Yusuf, has been named a recipient of the Hallmarks of Labour Foundation–Christopher Kolade Award for excellence in leadership and professionalism in the media.

The foundation’s Executive Secretary, Patricia Otuedon-Arawore, in a statement, said Yusuf was honoured in recognition of his outstanding track record in leadership and professionalism within the communication media sector.

Otuedon-Arawore said Yusuf’s contributions have significantly benefited Nigeria and distinguished him as a role model.

“This has set him apart as a great Nigerian role model,” Otuedon-Arawore said.

The award presentation, which marks the highlight of the foundation’s 29th anniversary, is scheduled to hold on Saturday, April 18, 2026, at the Lagos Oriental Hotel, Victoria Island, Lagos.

Other awardees, according to the organisers, are: Prof. Benedict Oramah, Alhaji Mahmud Yayale Ahmed, Chief Akinlolu Olujinmi, Justice James Ogenyi Ogebe, Prof. Isaac Adewole, Aare Afe Babalola (SAN), Prof. Placid Njoku, Prof. Adeyinka Falusi, Prof. Francisca Okeke, Prof. Friday Okonofua, Prof. Abel Olayinka and Prof. Oseyemi Akinbamijo.

Posthumous awards will be conferred on Nelson Mandela, former South African President; Dr Kofi Annan, former Secretary-General of the United Nations; Prof Chinua Achebe, a Nigerian novelist; Chief Gani Fawehinmi, a Nigerian lawyer and human rights activist and Dr Pius Okigbo, a development economist.
