His Royal Highness Shehu Usman Abubakar Foundation in Collaboration with Media Trust Limited, publishers of Daily Trust and Aminiya titles, has distributed N5 million worth of relief materials for over 1,000 people displaced within Gombe state.
At the handover of relief materials on Saturday, Alhaji Abubakar, the emir of Gombe, commended Media Trust for its efforts to raise funds for internally displaced people.
Abubakar said helping IDPs was not the responsibility of Government alone but the responsibility of all citizens
Deputy General Manager of the Media Trust, Garba Aliyu, said the idea of assisting the IDPs was initiated by the Directors of the company as part of the company social responsibility to reduce the hardships face by the IDPs
Aliyu said Media Trust also award scholarship to students and carried out many projects under corporate social responsibility as part of efforst to improve the living standard of people.
He said the company identified with the Shehu Abubakar Foundation because of its dedication to the well being of the society.
Abubakar Abdullahi Lamido of International Institute of Islamic banking and finance of Bayero University Kano, commended the emir for taking responsibility for the twelve years of primary and secondary education for 1,500 children, as well as distribution of Ramadan feedings and clothes to the needy and less privileged.
