Top seed Daniil Medvedev cruised into the second round of the ATP tournament in Vienna on Wednesday with a straight-sets victory over Nikoloz Basilashvili.

The Russian won 6-2, 6-2 to set up a meeting with fellow former US Open champion Dominic Thiem, who saved two match points in a dramatic win over American Tommy Paul on Tuesday.
